By Patricia Robinson

Artistic works are often grueling task inhibited picasso. But if you live and breathe for art then finding a way to unleash this inner creativity should be a top priority. There are many kinds of mediums that an artist can choose from such as painting, sketching, and anything else that requires creating symbols on piece of paper.

But simple painting will not suffice because you are not that artistic, and lack the skill to paint or draw. Which is why craft does not limit itself as carbon pencil and a sketch pad. So for your schools next craft fair foil embossing dies should be your first option.

Because this is easier to do and most materials can be bought from any school supply and craft store. There are just a few things you need to start making masterpieces such as the die, foil, and medium. The difference between stamping and embossing is simple, embossing means printing or pressing images.

Because it will embed an image or symbol, so there is a possibility of cramping the image which loses the papers presentation aspect. Teachers are tasked to do the budgeting and shopping of these materials. However it is easier to let the children buy their own materials instead, so that kids have more flexibility in their choices.

Foils can be bought from the local grocery store but may not offer the durable that specialty foils can offer. Foils from art supply store could be limited and lack other kinds of colors. However buying an event store that supplies greeting cards for all occasion is where you can find all kinds of foils.

The tools in poking out the images on it does not need to be sharp to the point it will tear. But should be pointy enough to form a depression. Knowing the purpose of each tool is an important aspect of efficiently making your project.

Like a rolling pin similar to a stamp, but is more expensive because it is made of harder material that allows the embossing of image. The metal die is placed on top of the foil that covers the medium. Just imagine you are using a heat transfer paper because this project requires heat to emboss.

Foils are rolls of manufactured film created with clear mylar, heat started adhesive, and pigment. It come in different colors and give off a vibrant metallic sheen which is perfect for those party give away and greeting cards for special people. The element highly depends on occasion or service you will use it with such as letterheads for a company, certificates for school diplomas or short studies, greeting, or business cards to give away.

The science behind this art form is heat. Heat is necessary when transferring the foil above the surface of the element, and you want it to stick very well so it will not peel off once it is done. The foil is positioned between the medium and the die. Once you apply pressure on the die after it has been heated for sometime. The foil begins to peel away from the mylar then fuses itself with the surface of the card. Now that you know a little more about the art of foil embossing then you surely will get an A plus for your art fair project.
