Gymnastics training is not only for the girl or boy who wants to go to the Olympics. They may want to be on a team in high school or college. Some are there simply to have fun and we provide plenty of that. Any doctor will advise exercise as a way to maintain good health. When a child takes classes at Ambler PA Childrens Gymnastics healthy exercise and motor control are developed as they have fun.
Front and back somersaults and cartwheels are done on a soft tumbling mat. Safety is always a concern for our students. They are complimented on their successes and encouraged to improve their skills. All ages are welcome to join.
Classes are filled with students of similar age and ability. Foundational skills are taught on all the equipment such as balance beam and uneven parallel bars. The vault is a competitive event as is floor exercise. That is done on a mat and is a combination of dance moves and tumbling runs.
Children may take hour long classes and later on ninety minute classes if they prefer. Some are girls only and some are co-ed at the younger ages. The boys and girls are taught separately when they prepare for competitions since each gender has different events.
The longer sessions allow for more time to be spent on the equipment. Boys must develop their upper body strength to compete on still rings and even parallel bars. These are fast paced sessions with a professional instructor.
Some classes are given in trampoline and tumbling only. A school cheerleading team may request a class to learn back handsprings and other tricks. Someone who wants to compete on the football or soccer team will need excellent body control and endurance. Doing aerial somersaults on the trampoline develop that control of movement.
Cross country and track team members cannot avoid injuries unless they learn to stretch before each event. Endurance is tantamount to success for tennis matches and races. Gymnastics training will function to prepare the student for any sports competitions.
